Five Nights at Candy's Wiki

Five Nights at Candy's 3 is the third Five Nights at Candy's game. It is currently the final game of the Mary Schmidt Saga and to have been released, but will be succeeded by Five Nights at Candy's 4. Chronologically, it is the first game in the series, taking place in 1962.

There are 8 stars available, a Gold Star for completing Night 5, a Red Star for Night 6, a Blue Star for getting the Forgotten Ending by knocking over the Origami Cat in Nights 1 through 4, and a Peppermint Star for completing all 5 of Lollipop's games needed for the Ultimate Ending. Additionally, 4 Shadow Stars are available for completing each of the Challenges on the Shadow Night.

Summary

"I've always liked it when it rains...
the rain makes the silence go away
,

it feels comfy and relaxing.
I don't like the silence
the silence means they're hiding
if they're hiding, they're coming closer
and if they come closer
they'll hurt me, for what I did- didn't do...
for what I couldn't do"

Challenges

Challenges are modifications to the game, designed to increase difficulty. They are unlocked in the Extras menu after the completion of Night 6, and can be used on any Night and the Shadow Challenge.

Laser Pointer

Laser Pointer makes the flashlight's beam much smaller, requiring great precision when warding off Monsters. When enabled, the challenge makes Nights 3 through 5 much tougher when trying to fend off Monster Cat, and can cause difficulty when aiming at Monster Rat and Shadow Rat as well. Monster Vinnie becomes incredibly hard, due to his speed, long attacks, 360° turns, and the small flashlight.

My Wake-Up Music

My Wake-Up Music forces the player to always keep the tape recorder active. In this mode, the tape recorder won't speed up the passage of time, and, if not playing, the screen will get gradually darker until the player is eventually jumpscared. Night 6 and The Shadow Challenge become even harder, as Monster Vinnie's attacks are longer than the tape's entire duration, and Shadow Rat's constant presence will keep attention away from the tape player. If Monster Cat, Monster Vinnie, or Shadow Rat successfully steals the tape recorder, a game over is inevitable. It should be noted that the player will be kept awake so long as the tape recorder is making any sound at all, including rewinding or the garbled output if sabotaged by one of the Monsters.

Silent Night

Silent Night will prevent the tape recorder from making any audible sound. This can make the night harder or easier depending on the night and the situation. If on one of the earlier nights, the player will have to periodically check if the tape recorder needs rewinding, as there will be no audio cue that the tape has stopped. On the later nights however, when the Monsters begin to hide under the bed, it can be beneficial for hearing exactly where they are. If My Wake-Up Music is enabled alongside Silent Night, then the darkening screen will provide the player a visual cue that the tape is stopped, effectively circumventing the challenge.

History

  • On September 24, 2015, Emil "Ace" Macko created a Reddit post confirming the future of Five Night's at Candy's, along with announcing a possible sequel and perhaps 3 more.
  • In Five Nights at Candy's 2, the ending screen says "To be concluded", and a big 3 can be seen, implying that FNaC 3 was in development and that it would be the final installment in the series.
  • On March 4, 2016, Emil put up a page for the game on Game Jolt, confirming its existence.
    • At the same time, he posted the first teaser, depicting a very muscular RAT and the Origami Cat.
    • Emil also explained in a Game Jolt post the basic mechanics of the game, and addressed various criticisms of FNaC 2.
  • On April 14, 2016, Emil posted a new teaser on Imgur, depicting a child's bedroom, with the perspective seemingly positioned underneath a bed.
    • At the top of the page are the words "will you find me?".
    • If brightened, the words "or will I find you?" appear just below them.
  • On May 15, 2016, Emil posted a third teaser on Reddit, depicting the same bedroom as seen in the second teaser, but from on top of the bed and illuminated with a flashlight.
    • If brightnened, "1962" appears above the flashlight's beam, referencing when the game takes place.
  • On May 28, 2016, Emil posted an update on the Game Jolt page explaining that the game would not be released in June of that year, and that he was unsure of a concrete release date. He also confirms the name of the new character, "Nightmare Rat". This would later be officially changed to Monster Rat.
  • On June 8, 2016, Emil posted on Twitter that the trailer was expected to be released sometime in the following 2 weeks.
  • On June 19, 2016, the official trailer was released.

  • On August 30, 2016, Emil posted on Game Jolt several screenshots of the gameplay.
    • The gameplay is very similar to that of Five Nights at Freddy's 4.
  • On October 3, 2016, Emil released the demo version of Five Nights at Candy's 3.
  • On December 30, 2016, Emil released a minigame trailer showing the minigames that will be featured in the game.
  • On March 5, 2017, the game was officially released at 6:41:08 a.m.

Trivia

  • FNaC 3 and FNaC 4 are the only games in the series in which the basic game mechanics were directly revealed by Emil Macko prior to release.
  • According to Emil Macko, no models from past games had been reused for this game.
  • This game is bigger than its predecessors content-wise, with the new challenge modes, larger emphasis on minigames, and the inclusion of the Dreamscape segments.
  • It is the only game in the series to receive an official demo release.
  • This game technically follows the icon scheme of FNaF 3 in showing the main antagonist of the game, rather than the eponymous character. In FNaF 3's case, Springtrap was used rather than Phantom Freddy, and for FNaC 3, the Monster Rat is used instead of Candy.
